The All Star game has, to me, always been about guys having fun. Creating memories for them and their fans- despite "this time it counts." It's always been riddled with undeserving starters, and frankly im happy those undeserving starters arent just a combination of Yankees and Red Sox. A small market team whose fans are actually having fun supporting their team- to ridiculous levels.

This all star game is going to be more memorable to a fan base, who will appreciate it more, than any team in my lifetime- probably ever. This will be the stuff Royals fans get to reflect upon for the rest of their lives- which is what so much of baseball is really all about. Sure, Omar Infante getting in will be an absolute joke, but really, who cares in the long term? Yes "this time it counts"... hasn't really counted for all that much, and this is baseball, where even the great teams lose 1/3 of the time. Starting 8 Royals (and having guys like Donaldson and Cabrera available in the later innings) probably wont have that great an impact on the game provided the starting pitcher can dominate for an inning or two. Or hell, let Wade Davis start the game and Greg? Holland pitch the 2nd. Embrace the novelty. Make it something special and different.

And if people and cities are really pissed off? Do something about it. Its not like Royals fans are doing something against the rules, so nothing is stopping a city for pushing for their guy. If this is a game for the fans, why not reward the fans that are clearly putting forth an extraordinary effort?

This has the potential to be an all star moment worth remembering, and not just for the "joke" like Big Unit throwing behind Kruk, or the "honoring the history" of some old guy riding around the park in a car. And this isn't a call for changing the rules, or even "this time it counts." This isn't me hoping for #TeamChaos, or any desire of THIS IS SO BAD THEY HAVE TO CHANGE IT. This is my honest opinion of what the All Star game means to me, as a baseball fan.

Go all in. I will be casting my first and only ballot for the year with nothing but Kansas City Royals.

I think the idea of starting Davis and Holland pitching the second.

I think Rivera should have started the ASG in his last year. One of my favorite ASG moments was when ARod made Cal play SS.

Agreed. It will be really interesting to see how this team responds in the second half. I really want to see them call up Kyle Schwarber. Just adore his approach at the plate. Also, Edwards should be up to help the pen this year. Really wish the Rangers wouldn't have traded him. Future closer.

Major League Baseball has wiped out more than 60 million votes for the 2015 All-Star Game amid fears of improper voting techniques.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports the number of accepted votes is still greater than 300 million.

"I'm not saying we bat 1.000," CEO of MLB Advanced Media Bob Bowman explained, per Passan. "But it's between 60 and 65 million votes that have been canceled. We don't really trumpet it because if someone thinks they're getting away with it, they'll try to again."

The voting procedures have come under extra scrutiny this year with the Kansas City Royals completely dominating the projected American League lineup.

Members of the Royals occupied eight of the nine starting spots for hitters in the latest update, as noted by Aaron Gleeman of Hardball Talk. The only exception is Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, who owned an advantage of around 2 million votes over Kansas City's Alex Rios.

The current lineup would also include Royals second baseman Omar Infante, who sports a .547 OPS, well below the .718 of second-place vote-getter Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros.

"I have to be happy. The fans vote for me," Infante told Passan. "I'm happy about that. I can't control that. I'm happy because if I'm there, the opportunity to go to the All-Star Game is great."

Rob Neyer of Fox Sports doesn't believe that the Royals have done anything shady in landing so many players at the top of their positions:

But I’ve talked myself into thinking that nobody has hijacked the balloting this year. If only because if it were that easy, a) somebody would have done it before, and b) somebody would be doing it this year, for some other team.

Based on Bowman's comments, it appears the vote removal is an ongoing process and not a one-time mass cancellation of prior votes. That would suggest the last update was accurate in reflecting the Kansas City players' leads.

The voting period continues through July 2, and the 2015 All-Star Game is scheduled for July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Even with the voting protections in place, expect to see a lot of Royal blue in the starting lineup.

It's going to be tough to send Schwarber back down if he keeps hitting. Sounds like they are hell bent on doing that though.

Robin Ventura is getting a lot of shit for taking Sale out last night. Probably way too much. He had thrown 114 pitches in 8 innings. The Rangers have a banged up lineup and the White Sox gave Robertson a lot of money to close. DR has to slam the door there. He gets guys like Elvis Andrus and Mitch Moreland out most of the time as most elite closers do. Besides, it's June. I think most managers would have at that point. Yes he had not walked anyone, had 14 K's and was rolling. If he goes back in he probably gets a CG and throws 130 pitches. They have him locked up for a bargain the next 4 years ($47 mill for 4 years for what might be the best pitcher in the AL) to carry their rotation. Maybe you leave him in if he has an extra day of rest? However, he will pitch again Wednesday against the Twins. I totally understand why you'd take him out after 8.

It's going to be tough to send Schwarber back down if he keeps hitting. Sounds like they are hell bent on doing that though.

But where would they play him in an NL park? He's never played the OF, and he's pretty bad behind the plate.
