I must admit this album is significantly better than I thought it would be. Simple remove Sirens, Lightning Bolt, Records and Future Days and you have a solid album.
Yeah, the saddest thing about this album is that it's still too short to get rid of anything and still call it an album.

This is pretty much how I feel, though I do like Lightning Bolt. Sirens had potential, but they really went down the cheesy, crappy sound route, which ruins it for me. Then Future Days actually isn't a bad song, but it just don't sound right being on this album at all. As for Records, it plain sucks. Overall, though, I'm liking the other songs much better than a lot of stuff on Riot Act, S/T, and definitely Backspacer.

As a fan, im actually really proud of this record after the last few shit years from the band.
im fully enjoying this. It is different. I get that some people aren't into later day PJ but this feels like a nice way to mature for the band. Sure, the stinkers on here can be pretty stinky and a few odd choices but overall this is great. The highs are are far higher than anything on the past 2-3 records...
I also like that my opinions have changed, better and worse, on tracks across the record. I think that is a good thing.

I was ready to bail after Backspacer. The good songs on LB have somewhat restored my enthusiasm for this band too.

Yeah, it's become pretty cool to shit on the band recently. They kind of deserve it for some of the stuff they've done recently, but I was never a Pearl Jam fan just from their albums. I got hooked on PJ because they take it to the next level live, and most of these songs on the new record, minus a couple of duds, have really impressed me out in the wild.
my biggest problem with Let the Records Play, is the fraking title???
what if Spin the Black Circle, was "Spin the Records Today"
still means the same thing, but the title would have made it kinda cheeeeeeeesy
thats the same way I feel about Let the Records Play.
LOVE the groove though, and fuck you PJ and your fucking fade out endings! lol
