Its 415 where I am and I'm laying here speculating on the new album and songs like MYM and Sirens...in reality we don't know what's real and what's not. The one thing I do know is that this band has written songs I love. ..songs that have changed my life. And even some that may have saved me a couple of times when I was much younger and a lot less mature.

I remember the first time I heard Present Tense I was in a really dark place. Blaming myself for things I really had no control over and as Eddie says in I'm still here "I contemplated an awful thing I have to admit". The words I heard in that moment changed me. "You can spend your time alone redigesting past regrets oh...or you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can't forgive yourself ohh ohhh...makes much more sense to live in the present tense. "

Every album has had at least a couple of jems that have opened my eyes a little wider than before. When S/T came out my father had passed away and about 30 mins after finding him as I sat outside wondering what would come next....trying to remember how to put one foot in front of the other the mailman walked up my driveway and handed me a package. It was the album. My father had listened to the leak a while earlier with me and as we listened to comeback he told me....its all going to be alright. I'll always be here for you. As I opened the package there was a note on the invoice that said the same thing followed by love dad. See, my father had been I'll for some time and somehow made it upstairs to order it for me online. To receive that gift so soon after his passing touched me. Coincidence I know, but an awesome one non the less.

And now as a father myself hearing a song like just breathe or the end...makes me look at my own life, the ones I love. Makes me appreciate these things more than I already do. And not everyone is the same....some people don't place much importance in music. I live by it...with it...through it. I can think of any important moment in my life and pick a song within seconds to relate it to. That's me. And probably most of us. And no...not every song is a jewel. There are songs in the catalog I don't really care for but those songs for me could be someone else's saviors. For that reason I can still appreciate them.

I guess my point is that album 10 will have songs some will love and some will hate. But we all came here for a reason whether it was years ago or recently because this band has touched our lives somehow. And while some have become cynical and expect the worst I look forward to hearing that next jewel...the next track that I can share with my son. That maybe I'll play one day at my wedding if I ever get there. This is my band. ..this is our band. We all grow older but we still share this one thing at least. For me that still means something. It always will. Its a great time to be a PJ fan. Till the countdown ends and the sirens around I shall mind my manners and wait patiently till the next wave rolls in.

To the band I say bring it cause I know somewhere in there you've still got it...and I for one think this next album shall be something very special indeed. Sorry for the long rant. ..its late. .now 444am. And I'm out....

The new album is called "X" and "Sirens" doesn't exist. The whole thing is going to be available on Monday. "Mind Your Manners" is going to be a free download.

I wouldn't mind if its called X if its for more than it just being a play off Ten and it being their 10th album. Maybe if they took inspiration from Ten in kind of a full circle thing. Like Ten with the knowledge and skill garnered over 20+ years....

Hopefully this sirens track is on there...and hopefully it's as good as whats been reported.

It would be awesome if after 20 years they release a song or a album that's just epic and kicks the world in the ass.

There I go setting myself up again....Album #10 will probably just end up being a logical extension of Backspacer, and Sirens will probably sound like a mix between Amongst the Waves and Inside Job.
