You should be. We are probably about to experience a crisis not seen since the bronze age collapse! Who knows what the stress will do to our brains this time.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

if i make a harvard-trained, professor emeritus at the best hospital in chicago disappear, i'll have bigger problems than finishing this book and finding something nice to say about it to him

Please don't forget to update us with a title and authority once you have it. I'm on pins and needles.

It could be a Steven Pinker tour thing. That's my guess if I had to guess

I'm making a go at reading the entirety of the Bible for the first time in my life, solely as a historical and literary exercise. Not a spiritual exercise. So I've been looking at that a little each morning, currently about halfway into Leviticus.

I spent a good bit of today on some related supplementary reading which I am truly enjoying. God: An Anatomy

She is looking at how the early conceptions of the deity that became the God of the Bible we know and love today very definitely had a physical form. It's kind of a fun way to get a picture of the origins of religion in that region in the third through first centuries.

Tonight, I'm going to watch Saturday Night Fever, because I've never seen it and I want to prepare myself to look at an older Pablo Larrain movie, Tony Manero, which is apparently about a guy who's obsessed with John Travolta.

That's my story
