Don't worry, Nate - I already listen to a pretty solid amount of rap.Orpheus wrote:If you think Kanye is that good LV, I gotta lotta excellent rap for you to dig through.
I doubt his disrespect is that specifically focused on those artists; he's just a rich famous person with a big mouth and fairly loose guidelines for social conduct. He has certainly sampled enough different kinds of music throughout his career to lay to rest the concern that he feels R&B is the only genre of music with any merit.E.H. It makes it seem as though all he cares about is r&b. And don't say number of albums sold should be a factor, by that logic 50 shades of grey should win best picture. I would just like to know what an artist/musician like beck or swift has to do to get his respect?
Can't even come close to agreeing with that, but when it comes to the debate at hand, from my admittedly limited knowledge of hip-hop, I think you'd be hard pressed to name another major hip-hop artist that is more clearly influenced by music outside of that genre than Kanye. His albums, while I think they're sometimes inconsistent, are always exciting to listen to. They're never rap by numbers.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I'm just gonna throw this out there: Beck never has, and never will, make an album as good as Graduation, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, or Yeezus.
