I know it looks tremendous but I might be there with her, it did not tick a lot of boxes for me beyond homage.

i love the movie, love Pugh and the rest of the cast, and specially the ending.

Also the first sequence with the sister's suicide is tremendous.

Hellraiser (2022)

I liked it a lot, the best sequel since maybe the second one or Hell On Earth. It was kind of confusing why they didnt want to take her but overall it felt very close to the original two.
Spoiler: show
i didnt quite get the ending...so roland is a cenobite now?

Yes! The movie is a slow burner, I think is the director style now. From the mansion to the end is really excellent.

I saw the DC the other night. This is rare, but to me, the Theatrical version is better.

yeah, i liked everything in the mansion. Pinhead was alright, but Bradley seemed more menacing. I guess the cenobites were too lit and i loved them in the dark

still cool designs, i can see this franchise coming back in a better way for sure.l

Just came back from Halloween Ends

Yeez that movie is everything at once, it looks gorgeous and has great scenes, fucking gory, super weird and bizarre, i really dont quite get what they tried to do here really.
Spoiler: show
i loved the fight between Michael and Laurie and the end, but why the fuck was Corey around? i kinda got his storyline but it was just bonkers that Alysson would fall so hard for him...just so much stuff that doesnt make sense

Just saw it. Really really liked it. At least is better than Kills.
Just like Halloween Kills is a callback to Halloween 2, Ends is a callback to H3, where is not really about Michael, but evil in general.

I thought Laurie should have died. To really kill Michael, you have to kill her. Anyway, great ending.

Finished up Midnight Club... kinda hated the end, the last two episodes almost entirely actually, which is frustrating because Natsuki's 'Road to Nowhere' story was the best one and they humanized Cheri in the back half and she was a really underutilized piece of the story as the concept of the thrown away child who was treated like a movie prop would have had a much larger impact than repeated lectures about HIV activism.

Well, I liked the poem Ilonka read to her dad. Otherwise meh.

I can she how this story influenced Flanagan's body of work, but it's not the 'must see' his others were.

my partner asked if I wanted to have a horror movie marathon on Halloween, I said are you kidding??? of course! they can't deal with ridiculously scary stuff (I don't think they'll deal with Ringu, for example)

so far I have:

Let The Right One In
Get Out
The Witch
10 Cloverfield Lane

any other reccs?

I really recomend Deadstream from this year, a really fun horror comedy.
