I think it would be neat as a trip for this specific birthday, but I also feel like I would want some time to explore South Africa as well, so that pushes the trip pretty much into 2.5 to 3 weeks. Not sure either of our employers would go for that at this point. My other option would be to save that for a retirement trip and instead do either North England and Scotland, or some kind of Nordic trip.
Congrats on your upcoming 60th my man!
Ha! I wish. That means I’d be retired!

Ruddo completely abandons us for over half a year and then comes back and just casually drops this lit fuse in our laps and you expect Spike to just accept it with no questions asked?

It's the unbridled aggressiveness.

I love the feeling of insignificance. Of feeling small in this big world and universe. I think I’d really get that risk being out in the middle of the Atlantic like that

What's funny is I'm now about as old as you old guys were when I first joined RM. Back then, I thought you were all really old. Now you're all truly ancient and I don't think I'm that old myself, after all

Do the trip for your 50th Ruddo. Go back and see South Africa another time.
One of the best memories I have of our recent caravan adventure was sitting around a small fire totally alone (well, the 2 of us, but you know) about 300m in the scrub off the Nullarbor Highway. Vast sky overhead, literally in the middle of nowhere. The insignificance was very real. And awesome.
