Full boner sequence.
Yeah! Best of the "rockers" on this album, that's for sure.

Im of the thinking that its the strongest song since Yield (side note: there's a few on here that I might give that distinction). So yeah..loving it! The bass line itself is enough of a song, but loving what Ed did vocally.

I've always been one to forgive clunky opening lyrics in great songs (see Life Wasted and Lightning Bolt, for instance) but I really get put off by that first lyric. why doesn't it rhyme? Every other lyric in this song rhymes, and it's not like you need to reach far to come up with a rhyme for son!

It's a half-rhyme, son / line. Not too bad imo.

I am not one to frown upon Ed doing something unexpected.

Also called 'slant rhyme' or 'near rhyme'. I don't know if it's intentional, but I'm guessing Ed thought the words rhymed closely enough if they both ended on the 'n' consonant.

i don't care if it rhymes. at least he doesn't do the 7 straight rhymes, with the music playing the exact same fucking melody as his voice, like on "The End"

i wouldn't care, but it's followed by so many rhymes, so it always feels out of place.
It doesn't help that I just don't like the opening lyric

Have you ever thought that this is Alive told by another point of view?
For someone that inherited genes from a psycopath he could do a good protagonist for Once

He banged his mom because he was following his fathers footsteps and he was next in line. Don't you see?

I should have known there was someone else.
After all I had a brother,
so that should have been a tell.

Sheds new light on the lyrics to brother.
All pearl jam songs are about waves and also incest?
Maybe its a family of incestuous waves.
