RNDM is kind of expensive everywhere you look but its not a cheap feeling package, Its pretty solid.

One of my local stores had a leftover copy of The Cure-Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me RSD release so I snagged it. Red vinyl too!

SubPop 1000 arrived today. Looks killer.

Has this band on it, though not this exact song.

I went to a record show today and got a pretty decent haul. Neil-On The Beach being the highlight.

I caved and ordered the new Birds of Maya. A run of 300 individually hand painted album covers. Shit rocks.

i need some advice on a cartridge replacement. i have a dual cs 5000 > NAD PP 2i > Rotel 1067.

im looking at the Ortofon OM 20/30, Ortofon 2m Blue, or the Grado Gold. Any suggestions? if this board isn't the right place, any suggestions on where to ask?

the steve hoffman site has a bunch of insiders and geeks and they confuse the hell out of me.

There are some good sources here that should be able to help you. Truthfully, I have no idea though. I'm a newbie. When the time comes to change my cartridge i'm worried I won't have a clue.

I've never heard a Dual table, but if it's stock that I believe they have light weight tonearms. In which case you need a medium to high compliance cart (this is the mechanical elasticity of the cantilever.. i.e. how much bounce in the needle). I believe both Ortofon options are in that range. I have the 2M Red on a heavier tonearm and it tracks very well - the entire series is considered a great value. From there you can move up and and down the scale for different stylus shapes for better output. After my 2M I'm considering a Denon 110 which is a high output MC cart that is very highly regarded, and in a similar price range to the 2M Blue. Read reviews online and see what other Dual users have tried with that TT.

I should mentioned that I've also never heard a NAD preamp, but you would need to consider the limitations of your system before spending more than the $250 range. If you do spend that much, you may want to think about a preamp upgrade afterwards... just a thought.

i went with the grado gold. its got some nice reviews and the hifi store clerk also recommended it over the oftofon. i should be getting it back any day now. im pretty excited to hear it, but my biggest worry is the 'hum' sound that some complain about. any one here have a humming sound with a grado cart?
