Train Dreams is gorgeous. I think I like it better than Jesus' Son, even. Also, I was hugely underwhelmed by Lethem, but I've also wanted to give Motherless Brooklyn a shot.

I finally bought "Beloved". I've been wanting to read it for years. I'm going to read it as soon as I'm done with "The Brothers K".

My friend who put me on Johnson raves about Jesus' Son. I need to give it a try.
I really love Train Dreams too. I'm not sure how I feel about Tree of Smoke.

I would even admit that what
Jesus' Son does is probably more striking that
Train Dreams, but I enjoyed the experience of being inside
Train Dreams more.
