I went through the OP several times making sure it hadn't been picked, because when I was trying to figure out which Document songs were left I was pretty stunned that it was one of them.

It was a coin flip for me between that and worksong. Have you heard the slowed down acoustic versions? They're stunning.

Yeah, my copy of Document is one of those IRS UK reissues with the bonus tracks, one of them is the acoustic version from McCabe's guitar shop. So great.

I mean, I get that it's probably been played to death, and it was their first big crossover hit, but The One I Love is definitely an instance where a great band crossed over with a truly great single.

There's only a few instances where rem singles are not among my favorites from the record. It happens, but not often

I can't find it on youtube but the one from the 2001 Unplugged is just amazing. It makes the McCabe version look like shit. They turn it into such a sad, aching, regretful song
