I like chewm's avatar.

In my head, I pronounce his screen name "chew 'em".

I can get behind this. Jack was their best drummer but "Even Flow" just didn't seem like his kind of song.

I was listening to some of San Diego '95 last night and reveling in how much Jack was killing "Leaving Here" and "I Can't Explain." Man alive, that guy could hold it down.
I can agree with that, in fact there's a few early songs I think Jack's style doesn't work quite as well - off the top of my head, I'd point to Even Flow, Alive, Jeremy, Go, Dissident and Rearviewmirror.

It's more than made up for by the material he helped the band create, of course, and I like his drumming very much on some of the other early period songs.

Putting this here bc I don't know where else, and bc I'm guessing it's an unpopular opinion amongst most of us. This guy on facebook is a friend of my brother's, and generally not a huge music fan that I know of. I'm guessing this is how the general public views PJ...

Comeback is a beautiful song and sentiment and great vocal performance by ed. Fits the song perfectly. I fucking love it.

On the heels of losing the machine gun assault of Dave A, it kinda pissed me off in '95/96, listening to Jack try to play Why Go...

other than that, him joining PJ may have been the best thing that ever happened to the band.

I can understand that opinion except for the part about Ed's performance. He sounds awful in the studio version, wheezy and warbly and lacking power.

I think that is what makes it great for me. he's sad, he's hurt, he's broke, he's on the edge of his bed crying to a lost loved one.

Yeah maybe. It just sounds really bad to me, and not especially suited for the style they're going for.
