Into the wild is excellent
Hands down.Coach wrote:Into the Wild is hands down Ed's best solo work.
Oh I forgot Vitalogy that is what a proper Ed solo record would be like .Tj wrote:In to the wild was seven years ago. We shouldn't believe that is a example of what a proper Ed solo record would be like. I am not sure if we have seen a proper solo record yet. Into the wild was great, but it had a physical plane that limited it's scope. Uke songs had the whole Uke or bust thing That limited it's scope. There is a real charm to both, but I am interested in seeing him open up a bit.
Good point. I guess I feel like there was a more positive unified vibe to No Code. Who You Are, Smile, Red Mosiqito, Mankind and Present Tense all have a we are all in this together vibe. While Vitalogy Is more of fractured band using the least talented musician to splint the break. Almost like the band said lets let him fall on his face put his ego in check, and then he put together one of the greatest album in rock history. He then emerges as the leader.LetMeSleep wrote:I feel a Ed solo album would be more like Off He Goes with moments of Habit/Lukin. Vitalogy was the butting of heads. Pretty much all of the Ed material got Dave A'd, Stone'd etc.
Maybe I am not giving the band enough credit on Vitalogy, but the only real contribution was Nothingman and that make sense that it would be Jeff that would be the good eagle scout.Tj wrote:Good point. Vedder brought in NFY, Whipping, Corduroy, Better Man and Immortality which is only half the album. Sure he's all over the album but those are some of the safest of the proper songs too. All of the ten proper songs have tension with each band member pulling their weight.Tj wrote:Maybe I am not giving the band enough credit on Vitalogy, but the only real contribution was Nothingman and that make sense that it would be Jeff that would be the good eagle scout.
Last Exit? I don't remember Tremor Christ who brought that in ?LetMeSleep wrote:Vedder brought in NFY, Whipping, Corduroy, Better Man and Immortality which is only half the album. Last Exit is Gossard and I've seen it credited to Gossard/Abbruzzese before. Tremor Christ is Ament/McCreadyTj wrote:Last Exit? Tremor Christ Mcready! wtf. I though Dave's drum tech played the drums on Last Exit.LetMeSleep wrote:Last Exit is Gossard and I've seen it credited to Gossard/Abbruzzese before. It is fucking stellar. All five guys at the top of their game. Same goes for Last Exit.Tj wrote:Well Tremor Christ is a shining example of why the band should be locked in a wherehouse and be forced to play together noodling and jamming. I bet Mike and Jeff were just layin back jammin that out.

All the stuff I've written recently is gonna go into the RNDM box with Joe Arthur. It's pretty easy for me at this point because we don't have kids, so when I'm home I'm tinkering in the studio all the time.
