I'm playing in a charity tournament Saturday that is a one-club tourney. Not sure what to use as last year I used a 6 iron and didn't fare too well. May use a driving iron as it has a more vertical face that would be helpful for putting, and as long as I'm on the fairway I figure I can worm-burn the chip shots to the green.

driving iron can work well if you dont spray it around..will be tough out the rough and sand though...I've done a couple of those tournaments and have used a 5 and a 7..good luck

yeah my brother is using a 6 iron (he can smack it way longer than I can *aware of quote out of context*) and my dad is using a utility wood. I may actually go with a 5 or a 6, but the putting with a 6 is what killed me last year.

So I went with the 5 iron. I beat my brother, who is a near scratch golfer. He used a 6 iron, but had two really bad holes that hurt him.

I shot a 99. My brother shot 100. My dad shot 102, and our friend took second in the tournament with a 92.

Putting was really hard. I only hit one sandtrap, but that hole was costly. It was on a par 4 and I shot an 8. Really hard to chip out of sand with a five iron.

In the form of my life atm, down to 7. Only issue is currently is I can not hit a fairway (hit 1 last week yet was 3 over after 14), but still only a couple over handicap in recent rounds.

Snuck out of work early last night for a quick 18. A 70 degree day in mid-March? Have to take advantage of that.
