I'm staging a protest. Can someone please tell me what happened to Coldhands?

With Asha Greyjoy on her heels and victory within Coldhands' reach, an unexpected turn of events unfolded. The former Night's Watchman stepped away from his foe, put away his weapon, and mounted his giant Elk. Before confusion had a chance to set in, a hush fell over the crowd as the large stranger from the North began to speak with a voice like half frozen weirwood branches rattling and wet ice crackling. "Winter is coming", he said. "I must go." And before a minute was passed the man and his beast were gone. "WHERE'S MY FIGHT?! I WANT MY GLORY!" Asha bellowed. Only one stepped forward. "I have your glory here, at the end of my spear."

I am thoroughly enjoying this thread ... I'm on about page 17 right now. Though I haven't read the books so I'm going to abstain from voting.

Which brings me to this: How the f* do some of you people have time to read the Game Of Thrones books and also make 10,000+ posts on RM?

Obara has more potential, I think. But Asha is battle hardened. We haven't really seen Obara do much except scowl and get locked in a tower.

Pfffft.

It was Asha even against Coldhands. It's absolutely Asha now.

ASHA ASHA ASHA!

I just keep thinking of Asha's battle at Deepwood Motte and think, "what a fucking badass".

Dario is another one who is underwhelming on the tv show. Is this any different in the book?
everything after tywin's death is different in the book
I get that. But is Dario specifically a more compelling character, or shown to be a better fighter? Coz based on the show, I don't know what Dany sees in him.
All the characters are more compelling in the books.
See, I think a few characters are actually better on the show. Davos is the primary example -- I was never really into his character that much in the books, but loved him on TV. Ditto the Red Viper.

Sandor is a bit different in that I loved him in the books, but find he's a more sympathetic character, and therefore even more likable, on the show.
You've only read the first three, right?
Correct, though I did read a few chapters from AFFC.
You should read the next two, maybe do the combined read method: http://boiledleather.com/post/259025541 ... rder-for-a

There are some really, really good Davos chapters there.

Hmm, the combined read method is certainly intriguing...

But at this point I'm fairly confident GRRM will die before finishing the series. If he can manage to get through all seven books, then I'll finish them up.
He's gonna finish them.

I'm about 800 pages into my combined re-read, and I really can't recommend it enough.
