Still a ridiculous comparison. Cook was super duper mainstream popular, like almost Kevin Hart or Adam Sandler level. Jeselnik is not at all.

I don't know about the Cook comparison, I just know the latest special was super predictable, which, while still may be funny, takes out the surprise laughter for me.

Seeing Eddie Murphy on Comedians in Cars Drinking Coffee brought a crazy smile on my face.
Delirious and Raw were such hallmarks for me.

I just heard Netflix offered him 7 million to do a stand up special

Those two specials were the gold standard of stand-up comedy for like 20 years.

The number being reported is actually $70 million.

For sure. Those two were the best, but I'd even throw Comedian in there as better than anything else besides those two.

If you're Eddie, do you mess up your stand-up legend by putting out something on Netflix?
I wouldn't. It would just seem like a nostalgia thing.
Make as many shitty movies as you want, but don't fuck with Delirious and Raw.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

He spoke about the desire to get back on stage, about his one regret being that he "let that muscle atrophy"; he also said he has no material ready to go (not sure when this was filmed though). The $70M deal seems like a purposeful contract to get his butt in gear.
Had no idea the new season was already up!

Yep. That and Sammy Davis Jr, too.
GREAT episode. Very interesting to hear him talk of how/ why he quit standup. Thrilled to hear he wants to start doing it again someday. The wife is already on notice. If he does it, we’re there.
I had no idea he and Jerry started standup at the same time and kinda came up in the clubs together. I think it said he started when he was 15? Wow. I knew he started as a teen, but figured it was like 18 or something. Had no idea he was that young.
One of my favorite episodes of the series and one I’m sure to revisit.
