Yeah I don't know this lady but I will say she reminds me A LOT of certain people I've been around in my life that I'd rather not be around.

Only thing worse is "fans" who latch themselves onto this drama.

Actually, even worse than that will be music and celebrity websites that exploit this.

Geez, what a mess.

Those poor kids.

I can sort of grasp towards this making some kind of sense if Chris had seriously fallen off the wagon in recent months but it's still so unexpected and sad.

I just think of the wreckage this sort of thing leaves behind. If we're confused, imagine his young kids. They were on tour, his bandmates, all of that crew, his fans. What do they do? You just pack up and go home and you must just curl up in bed and never want to get out. All of his buddies all over the world, his family, jeez it just must be paralyzing. All you are left with his questions. An accident or disease atleast there are answers. Shit, even a suicide with a fuckin note. But this is just inexplicable. Man, suicide sucks.

TMZ wrote:Chris Cornell was messed up during his Detroit concert ... hours before he committed suicide -- this according to a longtime confidant who was present and working the event.

Ted Keedick, who worked with Chris for the last decade as his house engineer and tour manager, tells TMZ, "Chris was out of character from note 1 of the show. I've never heard or seen him that way before, at least if we did not cancel a show."

Keedick says Chris seemed "high" and "f***ed up," but not depressed. In fact, Keedick says during sound check Chris was in good spirits. It's consistent with what Chris' widow says of her phone conversations with Chris before and after the show. Vicky Cornell says Chris told her he had taken "an extra Ativan or two" and she was so alarmed she called hotel security to check on him. Chris' own security guy discovered the singer had hanged himself in his room.

Keedick says Chris was off during the entire show, saying, "I'd never heard his voice that way before. He was having serious control problems."

Keedick was positioned in the middle of the audience with his mixing board, and at one point during the concert he was so concerned he phoned someone backstage and asked what was wrong with Chris.

As we reported, Chris had struggled with drug abuse for years, but his wife says he was clean when he died. Based on Keedick's account, it appears he fell off the wagon before his last concert.
It seems it was probably what we all thought it might be.
Something wasn't right at the Audioslave reunion gig. I posted about this a month ago how he seemed drunk, and I was wondering that because I thought he wasn't drinking anymore.
shit you're right.
yea.. geez. just watched "like a stone". not pretty
I agree he sounds bad but show me a good audioslave live clip and it will be the first one I've ever seen. He's always sounded bad singing those songs, at least the full on ones.

Those tweets are weird.

Im guessing Ed´s close with Susan Silver? I know that Lily´s Cornell daughter with Susan is pretty close with them. Who knows.

Yeah it's not how he's singing it's the look in his eyes, a few stumbles and some slurred speech throughout.

To My Sweet Christopher,

You were the best father, husband and son-in-law. Your patience, empathy and love always showed through.

You had always said I saved you, that you wouldn't be alive if it were not for me. My heart gleamed to see you happy, living and motivated. Excited for life. Doing everything you could to give back. We had the time of our lives in the last decade and I'm sorry, my sweet love, that I did not see what happened to you that night. I'm sorry you were alone, and I know that was not you, my sweet Christopher. Your children know that too, so you can rest in peace.

I’m broken, but I will stand up for you and I will take care of our beautiful babies. I will think of you every minute of every day and I will fight for you. You were right when you said we are soulmates. It has been said that paths that have crossed will cross again, and I know that you will come find me, and I will be here waiting.

I love you more than anyone has ever loved anyone in the history of loving and more than anyone ever will.

Always and forever,
Your Vicky

Not to throw gasoline on the fire here, but If you go back to the temple of the dog tour. Ed really wasn't on the album except for 2 tracks, he never came out at any shows, not even seattle. Maybe him and Chris weren't on the best terms.

it will be very strange if ed doesn't make the effort to attend the funeral. i wonder how the rest of pj would feel about that, considering they recently toured with chris and matt played with the dude two hours before he died.

Ed and I had a close mutual friend who died, and Ed didn't attend his funeral either. So maybe he's just not into funerals, or can't be bothered travelling halfway around the world?

If he's already in Amsterdam, which seems to be the case, then I expect he's not going.

People deal with death in different ways, and there's probably a "the show must go on" element at work too.

Maybe he'll turn up with his ukulele?

Haven't Chris's family suffered enough?
