any more stupid than the Sith referring to themselves as 'the dark side'? surely that would be an unspoken and understood position they held....they sound like a pathetically small gang of teenage hoodlums referring to themselves as 'the dark side'..yet there it is in the films..

that doesn't bother me, in theory. To be clear, the prequels basically executed nothing well. They are just terrible---to the point that I like the original trilogy less because they made more cognizant of its flaws. But the dark side references would have been find in the hands of a more talented writer/director.

Pal of mine once said Lucas f*ked up in a weird way. He imagined that last battle for Endor to be like the last battle in avatar. But all he got a as fluffy teddys He wanted happy meal toy royalties mainly though.

Nothing wrong or even unrealistic about the smallest among us toppling the greatest for the biggest change. Look at the lord of the rings.

It's all about delivery though.
Just hope JJ manages to capture what Lucas did right. And he did a lot right too and gets no credit at all.

Kevin Smith is a once-promising, now very annoying, shithead. As he admitted in that quote, he often fawns over the stuff that he likes. Add that to the fact that he hasn't made a great movie since Chasing Amy (or possibly Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back), and is very "loud and proud" about his heavy potsmoking, and the very fact that he even gets a platform from which he can spout his opinion becomes completely grating.

There are way more talented people out there without the audience that Kevin Smith has, so yes: the fact that Kevin Smith A) finds deep joy in feeling like a kid again while watching a movie and B) has a broad audience of people who care about this, it pisses me off.
