NAACP endorsed one (or more) of the Mayor's opponents in the last election, so the mayor's supporters are just claiming sour grapes. Maybe some level of racial solidarity going on. Asian mayor vs. African American opponents.

The main proggie talking point supporting the mayor and DA is that they've only been in office for x months, so you can't expect them to have fixed everything. They have a point in that things would be shitty regardless of who's in office, but when the DA is promoting insane things like "exploring noncarceral options" for triple murders and the mayor having similarly nutty ideas, I don't know how much weight that carries.

The only thing that might make a dent would be making it much easier to get concealed carry permits, but that is obviously outside the scope of possibilities for this county.
