That guy’s (Dan’s) voice is the problem for me. I’ve tried with 2 albums.

I do enjoy them. Only recently got into them.

If you have any recommendations for slowcore bands like them I'm all ears.

Cool. I got into them a little over a year ago just before their reissues came out. I haven't really checked out much other slowcore, but Numero Group, who put out the reissues, seem to specialize in the style. I've heard a little bit of Codeine, a little bit of Bedhead. There's also Valium Aggelein who are Duster under a different name. It's basically an outlet for their more nocturnal, introspective, and post-rock type stuff. Supposedly Numero is putting out a box set for that stuff in the fall.

Numero group has put out some great stuff as well, specifically Duster and Unwound. I know I've listened to Helvetia (Duster member side project) as well, and really like them. I'll have to check out Valium Aggelein.

In the CD changer today:

Bob Dylan Bootleg Series Vol. 10 - Another Self Portrait
REM - Life's Rich Pageant
Seth Avett & Jessica Lea Mayfield - Elliot Smith tribute album...not an Avetts fan but this hits the spot sometimes.
Minus 5 - Down with Wilco
Pete Droge - Necktie Second (watched Dumb & Dumber last night)
