I am not looking forward to hearing all the half assed conspiracy theories about how he was robbed of the election by the postal service.

Like it or not, it doesnt seem Trump is fading into obscurity soon. Even if he is not the guy in the next four years he will be the face of the republicans for a long time.

This is a nice fantasy but no

The main takeaway here is he is fkn old and would not run in 2024 (if still alive) and hopefully a huge chunk of his geriatric base has died by then, too, just so we’re safe.

That gets you back to the concept of the elderly voting. The shit they are voting for, they will not live to see. There should be a voting age maximum.

I would guess the best way to outsmart Trump is to have a very cool candidate again. Someone like Obama in 2009 or Clinton in 1992. That kind of guy and power.

Ocasio Cortes is a great great example of that.

The Trump sycophants in media and politics right now are sycophants because he is in power. The recent Anne Applebaum piece in The Atlantic breaks down all the reasons why people go along with fascists like Trump. None of them were personal loyalty. When Trump is out of power, the sycophants in n media and politics will no longer follow him, and the sheep who love him now will drift to the next fascist or corporate shill they are told to follow.
And Trump will be met with hatred anytime he leaves his safe spaces. He has already had to abandon his home in New York because he is not welcome there. He basically hides in the White House and Mar-a-Lago now. Soon, he will only have Mar-a-Lago. He will increase the intensity and insanity of his tweets either in a desperate grab for attention or because someone with a minimal understanding of American politics pays him to, but he won't be the central figure that he has been the last five years.
He will die

I think if the US doesnt provide with an antagonistic figure of weight, who can also go against the poor choices and discrepancies of its own party, Trump figure wont disappear into oblivion.

No one knows the future, but I don't think Argo's prediction should be dismissed. I think it's as likely an outcome as any. He has power right now, and people rally around him. He'll retain a celebrity status after office, but most people will move on from him.

Trump has frontotemporal dementia and is going to die. The idea that Twitter will always be as influential as it is right now is also wrong. Nobody cares what grandma posts on Facebook and Trump's idiotic tweets won't matter in a few years either once the next thing takes over.

I do think he's going to start TrumpTV or something similar. There really isn't anything he loves more than cable news. But even that (cable TV) might look a lot different in the future.

I too think Argo’s outcome isn’t entirely unlikely given the circumstances.

And I’ve stepped away from the “Trump has dementia” idea because while he is an idiot, the predictions about his cognitive decline simply haven’t played out were this true.
I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd.

Because if you guys want Trump out, he really needs to step out. And i dont see Biden doing that.
He’ll be dead by 2024. What we have to look forward to is Junior. Everything he’s doing now is setting him up to run in ‘24.

There is zero part of me that fears a Trump Jr. 2024 candidacy. Maybe I'll eat those words one day, but he's like the knock-off brand. His dad is the real deal. No one is forming a religion around Jr like they do with his father. If I had to bet on another Trump, it's definitely Ivanka, but doubt that possibility as well.
