Already, Musk's lackeys have taken control of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and General Services Administration (GSA), and have gained access to the Treasury Department's payment system, potentially allowing him access to a vast range of sensitive information about tens of millions of citizens, businesses, and more. On Sunday, CNN reported that DOGE personnel attempted to improperly access classified information and security systems at the US Agency for International Development (USAID, and that top USAID security officials who thwarted the attempt were subsequently put on leave. The AP reported that DOGE personnel had indeed accessed classified material.

I kind of hope China just shuts it all down. I know it isn’t possible without affecting their economy as well, but would be fun to see what happens over here.

They have said there will be retaliatory tarriffs if any are placed on them. That’s only a slice of the bigger picture though. They could tank the dollar overnight but is that what Trump and musk want? Musk it seems wants his DOGE crypto bullshit to replace the dollar as the trading standard.

Timely reminder
The DEI caused the plane crash narrative is a distraction. The tariffs are a distraction. Whatever insane nonsense Trump spews that the media will chase like cats chasing a laser light is a distraction. The only story that counts right now is the wholesale hijacking of control of the US government.

Finally some clarity on this:
It’s completely reasonable to demand dramatically increased immigration and drug enforcement. The trade deficit, I don’t think that is true.

That last part is the best part and shouldn't be distracted from. I don't buy into this "distraction" thing - I don't think Trump is that cunning, and I also don't think he cares - but if he is making up distractions, he should stop distracting from things a lot of people want.

As far as "border security", a few weeks ago when Trump first incoherently suggested that that was what we needed to do to avoid the tariffs, we went ahead and spent 1.3 billion to beef up security (some of which was needed, and some of which will be a waste of money and resources). So what would you like us to do next? Sorry we've been abusive to you all these years, America.

Fun fact: if a country has a "trade deficit" with one country, they by definition have a capital and financial surplus with that country. All a trade deficit means (take US and Canada) is that Americans prefer buying Canadian goods while Canadians prefer buying American financial assets. Which, oh btw, has the effect of lowering interest rates in the U.S.
And that means, yup you guessed it, that if that trade deficit were to turn into a trade surplus, that there would be a capital and financial deficit with Canada, pushing domestic interest rates up. Those same interest rates that Trump "demands" be lowered.
