I'm a little frustrated that Matt's snare always sounds very nice on his drumming promo vids, but not in the actual PJ songs.

I just don't have the attention span to listen to that.

I wouldn't worry, neither do I and I play the drums.

I listened to 1 minute 30 seconds and they still hadn't broken out into a groove, it was all mindless faffing.

I skipped through to different parts, and there were some cool bits for sure, but without a bit of melody to go with it, I get bored.

That sounds terrifying, it needs some death metal howls over the top.

It's not terrifying, just boring.

I jumped from place to place, i just got noise all the way through.

The crazy thing is, I'm not at all opposed to the concept of an all-drums album. But it seems to me that they're assuming too much of their audience, that hearing three drummers playing the fastest fills they can in unison, and sounding like a herd of stampeding wildebeest as they do, is going to be interesting to people. Bless Matt Cameron's enthusiastic little socks, he thinks that what's fun for him is going to be awesome fun for the listener.

I think that to base anything on drums by themselves, you first have to establish a groove that people can get behind. You can stampede like wildebeest and go crazy if you want, but not for the first two minutes of the track or people will just be put off right away.
