I really wish they had just used the 0:26 riff slightly slowed down with four on the floor kick and Ed doing some whispered serial killer blues vocals, with the whole piece never getting too far from itself. Basically more Of The Girl with a shit tonne of menace.

From the retrack thread but I've been meaning to post this here for days.

I love the first session tracks a lot. If you listen to that first session you can almost imagine the band meeting word for word saying they need a few rockers, an anthem and some more immediacy from the next batch of tracks. I like Getaway and MFS from session 2 but the others seem to have been written from a brief. We need an anthem rocker (LB), a punk rock song to fire them up (MYM), a poignant ballad (FD) and a piece of throwaway shite (LTRP).

Its a painful fact of life that all five members of Pearl Jam have the capacity to contribute fantastic songs, and at the same time fuck up the other member's songs beyond all recognition.

My other favorite bands include Pink Floyd, The National, Ween, Beck, U2, Soul Coughing, and The Flaming Lips.

I own one Blink 182 cd.

John Mayer is an extremely talented musician and song writer. I don't care if you can't understand that.

I haven't listened to a Thrice song in at least a year, but I do enjoy some of their later work.

I think the first three tracks are the best. But my views may change.

Finally got to hear this today, had to wait to hear it till it actually came out. After 3 listens through I'm going to rank the songs like this: 1.MFS 2.Pendulum 3.MYM 4.Getaway 5.LB 6.SBM 7.YM 8.Infallible 9.FD 10.Sirens 11.SW 12.LTRP. This is really not what I expected. For some reason I seem to like FD.

Pendulum is really cool though, so it's definitely a candidate.

"swallowed whole" through "yellow moon" is a solid run, each good in its own way. "let the records play" might add more to the PJ catalog as a whole than any of the other four in that run. maybe could use to be a little shorter, but still, nice fun song with a blues tinge (I'm thinking George Thorogood, SRV)
