2) There is no chance that the song is good enough to justify this build-up.

3) If anyone says that mediocre Pearl Jam is OK because not all Tom Waits stuff is perfect either, I can't promise I won't wheel off a cliff.

That's what I was referring to really. The whole thing can't possibly be anything other than an anti-climax.

It's people's own fault if they work themselves into a frenzy over this.

Good, bad, whatever - it's new Pearl Jam, I'm interested to hear it. I have no expectations.

my expectations are high, as they always are, but if I don't like the album as much as I'd like I'll live.

I like what I've heard so far (all 90 seconds). It is different. Eddie will be what makes it familiar.

Regardless, one song won't necessarily reveal the album as a whole. Riot Act is the album I like the least, and I am Mine is one of my favorite songs.

The Fixer was the only first single that I hated. If Mind Your Manners is worse than The Fixer...then we've got trouble.

It's new and I'm going to enjoy it till I feel it's necessary to critique it.

Yeah, I posted about that somewhere in this or the other thread. He's hitting 1/4 notes on the bell of the ride cymbal. It's a technique used often in progressive/metal music.
