Those three plus Army Reserve and Come Back.

So, like half the album?
Army Reserve is good too. Come Back is hit or miss for me.
Depends what you mean by “standouts”. None of those songs are better than the best songs on any of the previous albums.

Army Reserve is so good. The groove there..its something else. I love the ending and specially the guitars.

I agree. It’s only weakness, if you see it as such, is the obvious reach back to Porch, and even then there’s something awesome about that too. It also helps that it at least feels like the band just rocking out and it has that great jam to end it.

I love the lyrics. I love the sound of the guitars. I love Ed's delivery. I love the shift between the versus and the chorus. I love the melody of the chorus and the way it fights to float. The overall album production is the only thing I don't love about the song, really. To me, it's top tier Pearl Jam. I'd stack it up next to their heaviest hitters.
But I suppose if you made me boil it down to just one single element, it's the lyrics. That song really speaks to me and encapsulates how I feel about the themes the song is exploring and it says what it needs to say in a way that doesn't feel preachy to me, nor does it feel weightless. It strikes the right tone and at the time made me really think about how I interact with those issues/themes/ideas.

Yeah, the lyrics are great. Im not sold on the chorus...the music is so good and he delivers such a weird chorus.

It doesn’t climb for me but it continues to widen the gap between good PJ and everything that follows.
