Leaving aside comparisons to 1994, 1998 or even 2000, it's legitimately astonishing how much the band's live performances have declined since 2005-2006.

Finished up on Charlotte, Can't see all the fuss about yellow moon here, but then again I don't care for the song. The real me sounds rather good here. it's alot loser and ed's vocals for a 2nd encore seemed to be not bad.

Do people really think the BAND sounds bad or just Ed? I feel like the band is tight and focused with rarely a fuck up. Its eds drunk ass that brings it way down.

The problem lately is Ed is really bombed by the end of the show and 12 shows a tour isn't enough for him to push through and get the voice going. That and he seems to be all about "fun" now.

I strongly agree. 2013 would have been a fantastic tour bootlegwise if Ed's voice had not been the way it is since 2008.
I mean, they really put some thought in those setlists with the slow start etc. It's mostly Ed that turns people off.

It's definitely mainly Vedder.

But there are plenty of examples of band fuck-ups. It's certainly not all Ed. Matt definitely has lost some mojo, too.

I acknowledge that this isn't '00 PJ. However I don't think they have fallen as far as some think. Ed is more inconsistent now, but he isn't horrible by any means and still has some special moments.
I think it's to be expected that he can't do what he once did at age 50. Much different trying to sing DTE than play guitar on it at 50.

It's not really about him not being able to growl anymore. It has more to do with him being a spazz around the mic and not giving any space for the music. he fills all empty vocal spaces by throwing in unnecessary "ya ya's" and he's tripping all over himself with the lyrics and melody. He is extending vowels, words, phrases, and melody so much that it becomes out of time and trips over the next line or bar of the song. It's like he's never professionally sang before and/or doesn't give a hoot about "the music" any more. Or he's too drunk. He needs to settle down, settle into the song, focus and get in and get out of there.

The way vedder approaches his vocals these days seems more in tune with what one might see from a 13 year old child that got into Daddy's liquor cabinet for the first time.

Chloe at Voodoo was pretty embarrassing on Matt's end. No need for the cymbal taps at all! The ironic part is that Ed was the one running around the stage, playing damage control, keeping the song (barely) on the rails.
The whole band plays many songs too fast now, and Ed is definitely not as refined at his craft as he used to be...
That being said, he kicked pretty hard ass during the Hartford '13 show. They were obviously all very inspired that night.

There is something to that Strat. It really isn't as noticeable when u are there. I said, and still contend that the Phx/SD shows were up there with the best back to back shows I have seen.
That being said, your theory proves true, he seems to do well on the sitting acoustic songs and slow openers.

It's not just the singing, it's also the blanking on lyrics in virtually every song.
Though it's mainly the singing.

Do you know what the word every means? Do you mean handful?

So plenty = 2? Do you feel the band fucked up at a lower percentage in the past? I don't agree.
