Well all I was doing was listening to it on a shitty stereo because it was all I had
You could have mentioned this when we met up - I'd have happily mugged you for itdimejinky99 wrote: I own a ton of pj stuff I don't want.
This post works reallly well in the context of this thread.cutuphalfdead wrote:Dude, I don't even want that to happen anymore.

1) I thought MYM was decent when it came out as the lead single. It reminds me of WWS in that it took me a while to appreciate it because I was so busy anticipating the rest of the album's tracks. WWS is one of a handful of tracks I still like on Avocado. MYM is my favorite track on LB. I wish it swapped places with its brother Getaway in the tracklist.
2) Yellow Moon has been the biggest grower. It's just a beautiful song. The crescendo it builds through "the black and white fades" really gets me. If I could pick one song to see on this tour, this would be it. Hopefully it happens at Bridge.
3) I really like LTRP. In a way, I see it as a companion piece to Swallowed Whole, and both are answers to Getaway and MYM. Here are two examples of people who have found their own way of connecting or finding wisdom. Swallowed Whole is the sort of song Emerson would have loved. It's a transcendental viewpoint. LTRP is just a man who finds comfort and happiness in music and a beverage or two. That's my religion too.
4) Infallible reminds me of Tremor Christ, so I like it a lot. I don't really know what either is about, but both have lines that I get a lot from. Ed's choice of melody for the chorus is great, too.
5) Pendulum. Boy, this is a wasted opportunity. This song need needed to meander for another 2 or 3 minutes. It could have been up there with Sleight of Hand, but it was cut way too short. I enjoy it, but I wish Trent Reznor had been in the studio that day to say something.
6) Future Days. I don't get the hate for this song. Okay, the piano is unnecessary, but as a dad with young kids, I can't think of a more lovely sentiment.
7) I hate the title track. The lyrics are awful, the guitar tone sounds like The Fixer, and they already wrote Unthought Known. It annoys me that this song is a staple in the live set. This will be my piss break.
8) Sirens. "If you choose to stay, I'll wait, I'll understand." If someone can explain how this line makes sense, I'll like this song a lot better.
9) My Father's Son. I just can't get past Ed singing insemination. Really?
10) SBM. This is like the Speed of Sound abortion from Backspacer. Let's have happy Casio keyboard beats play behind sad lyrics.
Overall, it's solid, if unspectacular. I think 10 years from now, hearing Yellow Moon or Infallible at a show will be a real treat.
I'm often wrong. I also like Backspacer quite a bit, which I am pretty sure is wrong.stip wrote:daft twat wrote:With concerts on the horizon, I have started playing this album regularly after a fairly long layoff. Here are some thoughts that maybe Stip will read:

I did read it, and you're wrong about Lightning Bolt and SBM, but I agree Pendulum needed another two minutes.
