yeah, but nobody knows that for sure...he also said he hated the idea of a solo album and that he saw a future for Nirvana with an pop acoustic album more near the sound of Rem.

Plus they'd already recorded one complete song for the next album, so...

Like the three new songs he wrote for "In Utero"?

Teen spirit is 25 years old today??

Fuck. I'm no nirvana fan. I think they're vastly overrated in fact. But the impact of that one song is undeniable. Changed everything.

RIP Michael Jackson

You and I both know that isn't true. "Serve the Servants", "Scentless Apprentice", "Heart-Shaped Box", "Frances Farmer", "Very Ape" and "Milk It" were all likely written after Nevermind was released. It's stylistically obvious, too. "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter", while having been written in 1990 or so, didn't become fully fleshed out until the In Utero sessions, and even then it didn't really become a finished product until they started playing it live. And two of the b-sides ("I Hate Myself" and "Moist Vagina") were new songs.

I know you've complained about this for years but realistically speaking, what band doesn't hold material back for future albums? That they made In Utero with at least 5 songs that were written years before is irrelevant; the only thing that matters is whether or not the album is good. I know you like it less than others do, but it's my favorite Nirvana album and always has been since I first heard it in roughly 1994.

I expected that reply. I knew there was someone on here that felt that Kurt was basically out of ideas when he killed himself I just couldn't remember who. I'm going off You Know Your Right and Do Re Mi which I think are cool songs and showed he had something left. Who knows though.

He was a heroin addict with a crazy cheating bitch of a wife dealing with a lot of other weird pressures at the time. I'm sure those things stifled his writing to a certain extent. I think it's pretty ridiculous to suggest he was just done writing good songs no matter what though.

Double J are streaming a portion of the live show from Melbourne in 1992. It's awesome.

Actually, it's pretty awful. Without a doubt, the worst Grohl show available as a high quality soundboard.

The one I'm listening to today is a good place to start:

September 26, 1991
The Moon
New Haven, CT, USA

1. Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam
2. Here She Comes Now
3. D-7
4. Aneurysm
5. Drain You
6. School
7. Floyd The Barber
8. About A Girl
9. Love Buzz
10. Smells Like Teen Spirit
11. Breed
12. Polly
13. Spank Thru
14. Sliver
15. Blew (jam) > Blew
16. Been A Son
17. Negative Creep
18. Endless, Nameless

I pulled this out for the 25th anniversary of the show and it's kicking my ass. It's a great audience recording and it sounds like you're 10 feet from the stacks. This is really early in the Nevermind tour and they're still figuring out their set, so the setlist here is quite unique compared to the setlists they played later in the tour.

It's true though. I don't t know what the OP is expecting. They couldn't get any drugs on that tour, Cobain was on the verge of "giving up", and they were entirely out of it and played like complete shit. There were ok/decent shows on that tour, but February 1st isn't one of them.

It was easily within my power to go to this...was probably too busy listening to Bell Biv Devoe. To be fair though that girl was poison.

That's what happens when she does you in the morning, does you in the night, and does you when she wants to do you.

The four Sydney shows are great to varying degrees. The Big Day Out show is one of the all-time legendary Nirvana shows. But yeah, there are a lot of not-so-great shows on that tour.
