it's a particularly broken performance in a style where the power in the vocal performance stands in opposition to the hurt in the lyrics.
I've always been a fan of the song and performance too. I get why people don't like it either though. Like Strat said, Ed's performance works here for me. But I can see it being interpreted as either sad, brittle and vulnerable .... or, it was recorded at the end of the day after 100 takes of Comatose and 2 packs of cigs.durdencommatyler wrote:chewm wrote:Yeah, thisStrat wrote:Comeback is a beautiful song and sentiment and great vocal performance by ed. As if they've ever bothered to do more than a handful of takes of anything in the past 15 years...bodysnatcher wrote:I've always been a fan of the song and performance too. I'm sorry, Mr. Davis but it is "definitely" not true.Kevin Davis wrote:It is so true!durdencommatyler wrote:Untrue.Kevin Davis wrote:I don't mind the studio "Speed of Sound," but the demo version is definitely superior.
I love the demo version of Gone. Of course, I love the album version of Gone, too. My only issue with Gone is that I liked the preciousness of it being a Christmas Single Demo only. Putting it on the album took away some part of what made it special. I liked the idea of having another original song on an xmas single.Kevin Davis wrote:How do you feel about the demo version of "Gone?"
The music of Ole is great. But the lyrics are typical PRAMG clunky and awful.durdencommatyler wrote:I'm not sure where all these folks are coming from all of a sudden, but I'm fucking DIGGING the recent love for Amongst the Waves and Ole.
