I'm made my very unpopular (if somewhat, admittedly, hyperbolic) views on The Irishman well known -- especially regarding the "talent involved."

FvF just looks unbelievably dull to me. I like the two lead actors but nothing about that movie seems gripping, including what I've seen of those aforementioned actors' performances (all this based on marketing -- posters/trailers/etc). Obviously, I could be way off. Maybe I'll see it one day and I'll be blown away. But nothing I've seen so far looks remotely interesting.

I saw FvF together with one of my best friends and my girlfriend. Someone at my work said that it sounded like a boys movie, but both those two girls loved it, and my girlfriend had barely wanted to go.

I thnk it was both well acted, and that the two main actors did some of their best roles ever, with chemistry bouncing off the walls.

The story seemed predictable going in, but afterwards there was plenty to discuss and read more about.

Best of the Oscar movies I’ve seen this year.

Well, its a true story so yeah...it is predictable. My dad is a huge cars fan and he was awestruck on how well it was made.

Haven't seen Parasite yet.
Going to see 1917 in an hour.
2x speed on VLC player?
Come on this was funny! Nothing??

I think Jojo and Parasite are both very good and Hollywood is exceptional.

I also have zero interest in fvf because i don't give a shit about cars.

Id like to see 1917 in the next week although I wouldn't be surprised if it is a bit too cliche for me.

Also I feel like I should see A Portrait of a Lady on Fire because of the strong reviews but like i dont care about cars i also dont really care about ladies.

Agreed you'd have a hard time finding someone who could care less about fucking cars and racing than me but I really liked it. Bale was great.

Phoenix was so good though.

I have such an affinity for the trickster archetype lately, so I'm probably grading Joker on a curve, but I think it nailed what they were trying to do.

I think, outside of the blunt messaging, it's a more than competent movie, even if it borrows a lot. Phoenix elevates it all anyway. I don't think he's over acting at all.

FvF looks super boring to me, too, but people keep telling me it's good, so maybe I'll check it out.

1917 is good but runs out of steam about half way through.

Thing was he wasn't the clown prince of crime. He wasn't a mischievous evil genius. A trickster. Outside of the drunk driving joke he wasn't even a little funny. He's was a sad sack who went off when he couldn't get his meds. There wasn't even a hint he could be anything more.

I hated Phoenix’s one-note gimmick performance in Joker

Yeah I can't reconcile the film with "trickster" either.
