We might be expecting too much from them as they cannot be both enforcer and philosopher... they are people who get scared and angry and fuck up just like us. It's not like we can program them to do what we armchair quarterbacks think is exactly the right thing at exactly the right moment as we are looking backwards from behind the safety of our screens.

So I guess I understand why the law would say "wait for SWAT", we cannot have cops storming into a place they have never been and shooting kids by mistake, but maybe that rule should be reassessed in light of this because next time I am not so sure the parents are gonna respectfully follow the cops' orders while they can hear gunshots in their child's school.


The best answer is to take action to reduce the availability of guns and ammo. Buy out and shutdown the makers. Larger federal tax increase on sales. Hit the gun makers like we hit the tobacco companies with lawsuits and liability until they die. And all the other simple steps posted here already.

I’m on board with raising the minimum age to buy an AR and similar rifles as long as the voting age is raised to match it.

Are you telling me you think Ted Cruz isn't a complete waste of air?

"Cops are scawwed just like us" is an absolutely bonkers response to what was a clear dereliction of duty. But yes, we should absolutely do some of those other things to prevent this type of tragedy from occurring in the first place, since there's no reason to believe that any kind of uniformed good-guy-with-gun is going to stop it once it's underway.
