Fuck. Forgot about Florida. The fatal flaw in my plan
I’m not so sure of that. There’s red and blue everywhere. Especially red.
Well beyond that. Deeper divisions. Always chuckle when people say America is a melting pot. It really isn’t. It’s totally tribal. And hardened. Italians Irish blacks Jews. It never really blended at all. Everyone is fiercely committed to their tribe and ancestry. The fear of the other.
That’s kinda the root of all the problems imo
I’d say it’s more nuanced than that. Yes, there’s a lot of tribalism but there are many areas of life that genuinely do feel very “melted.” Working in an office like I do, for example - it’s an incredibly diverse and integrated environment. The identity divisions aren’t as rigid and bitter as you’re suggesting, in my experience.

True. But you can’t bring that stuff into the office
Unless you’re a minority (joking. Kind of)
Can’t remmeber who said it but America is mid adolescence as a nation and it’s tumultuous and unsettled. And how it finds it way though this isn’t being helped by consistently divided politics and biased leadership options.
Bioy howdy did I derail this thread.
Sorry. As you were

I agree with this. It's the suburbs and specific neighborhoods where you find the tribalism. In public spaces it is very mixed and people are quite pleasant to one another.

Differences between people are arbitrary. Skin color is one the most inconsequential.

They're making a sequel to A Quiet Place. Which is stupid. But Cillian Murphy is in it. Which is cool.

I have no idea. I haven't seen any of that info. I'm guessing they aren't sure yet. JK is writing and directing again, so that's good. And Blunt is starring again. So... I'm guessing it'll be a traditional direct sequel, picking up where the first one ended?

Mark Hammil is going to be the voice of Chucky in the reboot. Interesting...i thought they couldnt bring anyone to rival Brad Dourif but this is a very good choice.

The reboot is stupid. Mark Hamill will be amazing. In a decade, when they're rebooting it again, all anyone will remember about THIS reboot is Mark Jedi Master Hamill.

Yeah, I'm actually kind of excited about it. Which is weird for me.

Isn't that Brad Pitt movie "Ad Astra" coming out this year? I haven't found any trailers for it yet.
