Gaza has been run terribly by the Palestinians/Hamas, and a Gaza+West Bank (Judea and Samaria) as a country together would always be very difficult to get to work properly. But never did I imagine that Gaza would turn into a US area with casinos and hotels.

The only realistic solution for me is a one state solution, with no apartheid. I wish the world would work harder on that. Then Gaza could be a place all Israelis could live in peace, and the world could help build it. There are solutions to make it work. For regular people of that country, regardless of religion, to have a good life there.

However, with Trump everything goes back to profit, personal profit and US profit.

The map Netenyahu was waving around at the UN a few months ago and his plan for expanded Israel. They want to take over the whole region. As if the surrounding Arab nations will sit quietly and do nothing about that.

It’s being suggested this is one of trumps ‘flood the zone with endless shit’ tactics and nothing will come of it. It he’s being roundly condemned everywhere that matters for it. Even from allies.

If by region you mean Israel/Palestine (including the Golan Heights, which are also claimed by Syria), I agree. If by region you mean Jordan, Lebanon, the Sinai Peninsula (Asian Egypt) and Syria, I only think Israel want total control over the Israel/Palestine land and border, and any outward action from that, is seen as self defence, and is legitimately not a land grab.

Most Palestinians see Israel/Palestine as one land as well, and there is large opposition among Palestinians for a two state solution. Which is why both sides never settle for peace, but always want to fight.

I don't mean something fixable like appoint the judge that overturns Roe or backing out of some useless green initiatives. I mean like Vietnam-scale, multi-generational damage bad. If we don't look critically at his actions and the reporting on them, steel-man everything to try and understand what's really happening, we are gonna miss the signal in the noise and it will be too late.
