Don’t fall for it Joe. He’ll coincidentally be “out of town.”
He can order a case of each online and ship 'em out a pair at a time.
Hey wait a minute now THAT'S interesting....

When I started it, I wasn't in love with the Hemp Brownie flavor ... now that I've finished it, I'm a fan.

After a long time away I decided to pick-up some steadfast IPAs that have to trek some miles to CT:

Bear Republic Racer 5
Bell's Two Hearted
Stone IPA

I'm enamored with the beer game on many levels while engrossed in others, to see breweries grow and keep the quality up is something to behold. Granted Stone has an east coast operation in VA and even Sierra Nevada hits some issue with Northeast distro having the Mills River facility it can still be very rough waters.

I was first out at Stone in April of '01 (man they were a shack then) and the IPA is still an absolutely stellar representation of the style. Racer 5 is trending a little sweet for my liking overall but it still smells fantastic. Two Hearted is just sublime, the balance is really spectacular, I'd really like to get out to their Eccentric Cafe some day.

It's been like this for years but I'm really tired of the IPA/dark beer ratio in every store I go to being 10/1. Nobody makes dark beers, or maybe they just don't put them out en masse. I've had enough juicy/hazy/milkshake IPAs for a lifetime.

Yeah I feel that for sure. I'm not usually one for dark beers but I find myself craving like a nice red or brown ale. The pre-pandemic pilsner and sour trend was a welcome diversion from hops central

Honest to god what sounds delicious to me right now is a fucking Newcastle Brown and I can't tell if that's hops exhaustion or just pandemic-induced nostalgia for the types of shitty bars where you drink Newcastle Brown.

We had a Dark & Stormy series, which was stouts, porters, heavier browns, a barleywine, etc. and the distributor simply had no idea how to sell it. They could handle as many IPAs as we could throw them, which obviously in turn means the stores are picking them up and that they are selling and fast. The hazy IPA as a market driver is befuddling but no less absolutely true.

Why is the hazy befuddling? I like a good hazy IPA I just share Nate's frustration with the lack of diversity.

I’ve been saying this for a couple of years actually. I’m hopped out man. The other day in the grocery store i wanted to pick up s six of something, but in the “craft” section it was all IPA. Settled for some Hoegaarden and it was refreshing

I hate the bolded, makes no sense to me. "This beer tastes fucking delicious, try it out." Have no idea how the most bitter variety of beer became the standard. Actually really relieved so many other people feel the same.

I actually had Newcastle because of this same motivation and really enjoyed it. Not nearly enough brown ales on the market.

To be fair a lot of darker beers from the bigger microbreweries are cloyingly sweet.

Be honest: How long have you been waiting for just the right time to post the word cloyingly?

To be fair, the IPAs that are running rampant right not are really the furthest thing from bitter.
