this album is like if the Dismemberment Plan kept making good music after Change, pretty stoked

Lianne La Havas' new album (self-titled). She covers Radiohead's 'Weird Fishes' and it's really soulful and sexy. Great cover.
I've never heard her stuff before but Spotify recommended this record to me and so I gave it a go. I really really like this. Like a lot.

Always enjoy what he puts out. Nothing mind blowing but always a nice listening from front to back.
Motherfucker. What.
I guess he just died.
What the hell.

Aw man this sucks. Midnight at the Movies was an important record for me in 2008ish. One of my divorce records I had on constant repeat. Haven't kept up with him since but this is awful.
Feel bad for Isbell and Shires. I think they were close? First Casal, then Prine, now this.

Harlem River blues was a life saving album for me as well.
Fuck. Was just listening to saint of lost causes today.

That's fucking awful. He's got quite a few songs that are all-timers.

Listening to William Patrick Corgan's Ogilala. I quite like 3 or 4 of these songs. Definitely carried by the string sections and piano. The vocals aren't terribly mixed like latter Pumpkins, either. I guess I'm just feeling nostalgic.

(And that's Jason Isbell on slide guitar. Produced by Patterson Hood.)

I've been playing this lately thinking of the state of the United States. I know it's a quintessential Australian song and is about Australia, but the US could really do with a dash of The Oils about now I feel.
