that and sirens (for very different reasons) tend to be the two songs that have demanded further listens before making up one's mind.

sirens is terrible, on pretty much every level

i still have, like, three more interminable minutes left

It gets better and, magically, shorter. You'll see.

I'm a week into listening to this - and, I agree this song does seem shorter than at first.

The song flows so naturally. I really enjoy all the places it goes before finally breaking for the last minute. Like, a wave?? oooo!

But, yea, Doks wont ever like it. I was shocked at first and mostly laughed at it but then the melody kept creeping back in as time went on. Then I just wept and gave into the cliches.

I really hope they understand that this is probably the high water mark on the album for creativity. Just produce the next one themselves.

1) They won't understand that, or agree, 2) They will, but it won't matter and they'll continue to see it as just one approach, because 3) they don't care enough.

That is just so goddamn frustrating. Why wouldn't something happen when someone in the band wants to do it just because Brendan is there? Just how much influence does that dickhead have? Sorry, this is frustrating me.

"its a fragile thing... this life we lead..." portion is quickly becoming one of my favorite Ed moments....

That is just so goddamn frustrating. Why wouldn't something happen when someone in the band wants to do it just because Brendan is there? Just how much influence does that dickhead have? Sorry, this is frustrating me.

I know. I've been trying not to care for a long time. But you know what? I don't just blame him anymore. Because the band are fine with him. They're friends with him, even. And I can't do anything about it. So *shrug* I think I'll just be looking for some good songs from here on in. Being a long-time fan of this band in 2013 is pretty frustrating. I do like Lightning Bolt. But as usual, it's infected by what might have been.

Yeah, of course it's just as much if not more the fault of band if they don't do something they want to do because their producer might not like it. I just wonder what kind of dynamic that is.
