Gotta think it was Wheeler's physical.

Harold Reynolds actually just made a good point: Doug Melvin showed his hand with this botched trade. If he's still serious about trading Gomez, every other team now knows what it's going to take.

I'm not sure what they were expecting for someone that just blew their elbow out.

Hah, it was the Mets who backed out, not the Brewers.

Doesn't this make you wish we had a trade deadline in the whatif leagues?

I wouldn't mind trying it in an upcoming season, but I think the season would need to be longer to make it work.

On a positive note, 3 of JV's last 4 starts have been very good.

That is positive. And to think, he'll be their best starter by this time Saturday.

So the Braves are about to make their dumbest trade since Mark Teixeira.

I don't really understand it either unless Hart & Co. believe it's just a matter of time until Wood's elbow blows out (again). It's still a lot to give up though.

"Look, we're trying to build for the future here. In order to do that, we're going to trade our cheap, 24-year-old mid-rotation starter and our top prospect for a 30-year-old who hasn't played in the majors yet."

I still think there has to be more to it than that. If there's not, though, I really hope the Jays are asking about Teheran.

Yeah, I dont get that trade at all from Atlanta's end, and even the Marlins end.

I guess it does make sense in a way. The Marlins are just doing Marlins things by selling players to save money. The Braves are just doing Braves things by making dumb trades.

Just hope Julio never pitches any road games

Ah yes, I read that somewhere. Still, he would only have the second weirdest home/road splits on the team.

Drew Hutchison at home: 2.21 ERA
Drew Hutchison on road: 9.00 ERA

Julio Teheran at home: 2.37 ERA
Julio Teheran on road: 7.24 ERA

Man... if they could pick up Teheran and find a way to get the league to let them play the rest of the season at home, they would have it made. Those splits plus the Man in White... forget about it!
