On Thursday, President Donald Trump's campaign began a push for more than the traditional three general election debates with former Vice President Joe Biden.

The effort, which is being led by none other than former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, amounts to the most clear evidence yet that -- despite all of his public bluster -- the President knows he is losing right now.

Remember that as recently as last December, Trump was contemplating sitting out the general election debate season entirely.

"We are not going to ride the roller coaster of the ever-changing Trump campaign position on debates, nor are we going to be distracted by his demands," Biden's deputy campaign manager, Kate Bedingfield, said in a statement.

Trump's approval rating in Gallup data took a double-digit hit in recent weeks and a slew of swing state and national polling shows him trailing Biden by significant margins.

It's absolutely no coincidence that faced with those numbers, the Trump campaign has reversed its position on debates.

Conventional political wisdom dictates that the candidate pushing for more debates is the candidate who is trailing. That person needs debates to create a moment (or moments) that can change the momentum and trajectory of the contest.

That person isn't usually the incumbent. Typically challengers push for more debates because they need a forum to land the one big punch that can change things.

I have no horse in this (presidential) race but I am genuinely interested in hearing from the differing opinions on the election. I'm kinda relying on the reds of RM to be able to put together a coherent argument for Trump in these current mid-pandemic mid-BLM days. Imagine my disappointment when this is what I get.

Biden for sure should have to respond to this piece of his history, just as Trump should to his. But the thing I hear so much is that it doesn't seem to matter what Biden counters with as he's obviously and unchanging racist, whilst any negative aspects raised re: Trump are all "fake news" and let's ignore and deflect deflect deflect to Biden's racism or Chyna or LAW AND ORDER or whatever.

Trump seems to have taken the political process to a new basic low - whatever you do don't argue or debate issues and facts, deflect deflect deflect with repeated regular bullshit, and yell loudly about your opponent's apparent shortcomings at all costs. He's sorta grabbed the US political process by the pussy.

It's a little sad that his staunchest RM follower essentially follows the same playbook. BIDEN BAD! BIDEN BAD! OK, I get that. But what about your boy on the same issues? Why is an obviously racist Biden position to be taken as gospel fact that this is his position now when there is no such review on Trump provided at the same time.

Come on J, give me something to understand on why Trump is the right choice for the US in 2020.

I can respect wanting to hear from both sides but after four years of this shit, it’s clear that most Americans are ready to get off this ride and as such aren’t really interested in a deep dive into every word of Joe Biden’s history. He was the previous VP for 8 years, and has been a fixture in American politics for decades. If they had shit that sticks, it was played long ago.

Despite the vocal minority, Obama left office with a high approval rate and tons of respect around the world. People take for granted how squeaky clean his administration was, during a time of vicious opposition for six years that would have loved to have a shred of anything close to the kind of shit Trump has gotten away with, and they had nothing other than Benghazi bullshit and Hillary’s emails, two things that did some damage to Clinton in 2016, but won’t touch Biden.

Trump is an utter failure on so many levels, and to be honest, most people are tired of giving the PHATJ’s of the world a platform to spew their pea-brained distortions or reality. We’ve seen and heard enough.
