Norris, Labourt and Boyd. I am shocked at how OK I am with this deal.

If the Yankees stand pat, I like Toronto in the east now.

Whoa, really? Boyd has the potential to be very good, but Alford has to be one of the most exciting prospects in baseball right now.

The thing with Alford is he could be very good. But there are always "If he gets some power" athletic OF prospects. Hell, you just traded one to us in the offseason. And we have our own Alford in Derek Hill.

I mean... Alford is extremely raw, with just 110 PAs before this year because of his focus on football. And this year, he had a 144 wRC+ at A-ball, then he moved up to high-A and has a 155 wRC+. That's Alford without power.

Hill has an 88 wRC+ this year. He's a year and a half younger, but he still hasn't really had any success yet. Alford has been one of the best minor league players in baseball this year.

They actually scare me too, especially with the Jays experience with Gose and the way DJ Davis is developing. But those guys were always about "Hey, he's really athletic, so if we start seeing results on the field, he could be a star." With Alford, we are seeing results.

Either way... whatever. The Tigers got what seems like a good return for Price. The Jays paid a price that I'm perfectly comfortable with. It's a good day.

Pretty much. I have too much Cameron Maybin memory.

The Tigers got a really good return for a rental like Price, but it's a good deal for Toronto as well. A team like them that's been out of it for so long has a chance in an AL that is wide open.

I think the Tigers will make out better in this one. Some good value in those prospects. Although it does seem odd to make a deal with the team that's only 1.5 games ahead of you in the AL.

Only 60 games left. Let's say Price is replacing a .500 pitcher for the rest of the season. If Price makes 12 starts (optimally) and goes 9-3, he nets the BJs 3 more wins. Is that enough to take the East? Not in my opinion.

But, its got to be exciting for the BJ fans.

The Jays are 7 back of the Yankees, but they play each other 13 more times this year.

The Jays big deadline moves so far: adding Tulowitzki and Price.

The Yankees big deadline moves so far: Pineda and Nova are hurt.

Having Price helps them immensely once the playoffs start, especially if they end up in the one game playoff(Although I think Price has pretty shitty playoff numbers.)
