Check out what’s happening in the uk
Holy fuck
Boris is done for.
TLDR his special advisor who is basically on putins payroll has just fucked up so bad
It’s probably going to collapse this government
Or it would. In normality.
Popcornarama. Look it up.
Is this about Cummings?
Yep. Special advisor to the prime minister who is unelected has eviscerated the party of any members with any intelligence, and surrounded him with evil half wit lackeys aaaaaand hes also in putins pocket.
Sound familiar?
Cummings should have been invited to resigned immediately. If he didn't, Johnson should've sacked him on the spot.
Not because what he did is wrong - I don't know enough about it but it seems like pretty small beer - but it's wildly damaging to the public standing of the government.
Mind-boggling that the response is to dig in and hope it all blows over.
I listen to British radio all day
This is not going away. It’s all Over the papers too
Cummings is making a statement and taking questions at 4
This is unprecedented He’s just a special advisor he’s not other even a member of the Tory party never mind being totally unelected
HE is the architect of brexit though and darker forces are pulling those strings
News outlets and MPs in uproar over him giving this statement, saying this is him confirming he’s defacto pm.
What does he have over boris is the real question on everyone’s Lips. He’s fired high ranking staff and MPs that have crossed him.
Something stinks to the heavens.
Police are now investigating the whole trip as there’s been four different versions of the story since it emerged.
Should be cut and dry. Fire him. But Boris who’s been nowhere to be seen since the crisis kicked off came out and made a statement defending him.
ITs absolutely not the storm in a teacup it reads. Brits are furious and even the Tory’s rag mouthpiece newspapers are calling for blood

Over the last three nights I've been there alongside my staff opening our bar to the public at 25% capacity (59 ppl for us), no service across the bar, groups of six or less at tables, and temp checks at door.
In Texas there are two types of bars right now. Those that have spent the last couple of weeks preparing with PPE and staff education to reopen safely, and those that don't give AF. I'll let you guys guess which ones people are going to.
My bar's sales were down nearly 70% over the weekend and I'm totally okay with that. I hope my employer is, but I have a sense they won't be.
If actually enforcing the state guidelines (even as the state itself is turning a blind eye to those who aren't) is the hill I die on with my employer in the next few weeks, so be it.
Texas certainly reopened too soon but I take pride in running as safe of an establishment as I can with the tools and the staff that I have.

They should pull the convention out of NC. Our rates keep rising, but we keep opening stuff up. It's not safe.

Those political conventions kinda make you guys look like....dicks. And I know my American friends aren't dicks. But that's just how they make you look from where I sit. Sorry - honestly no offence intended. I just don't understand (and kinda loathe) political radicalism.
But for reals, he wants a guarantee that you'll be able to hold the convention at full, body-to-body capacity. In August. Of 2020. A tent of what, 15,000 people?
How can this even be considered a possibility with the way the world is right now?

As long as they offer commemorative paper tickets at a later date, sounds good.

verb_to_trust wrote:“There is a lot of air space and air flow outside,” Dr. Chambers says. “Data suggests that people who are infectious and generating infectious droplets are of greatest contagion within 6 feet of you.” If you are outdoors and closely packed together at the start of a foot race, for example, there is a risk, he says. “If you are outdoors and appropriately distanced from other people, then it is highly unlikely you will be exposed,” he says. Research simulating the aerodynamics of contagious droplets that walkers and runners leave in their slipstream has been criticized for not taking into account how air can dilute the droplets, he says. Whether running or walking, you are breathing in a large volume of air that is distributed over a broad area. Every breath is over 10 feet of air space. “It’s highly unlikely you’ll come in contact with someone’s airflow unless you’re directly behind them,” he says.
TRANSLATION: wearing a mask while running when social distance is possible is alarmist bullshit.
I feel like this got lost when smurfndestroy tried to join the big kids table, but I don't disagree with this at all. It's just that key caveat--when social distance is possible. Quite hard to social distance on a narrow sidewalk. That's all.

Stop focusing on jogging. Apply this situation to almost every other situation one might find themselves out in public
Look I’m all for not wearing a mask when social distancing can be maintained. I hike with a mask and out it on when I’m passing strangers. It’s simple.
I wear a mask going into businesses.
It’s the idea that “masks don’t do anything so fuck yourself if you’re sick stay home”
People don’t know their sick with covid. That’s the problem.

I don't think you can be sure we're not all dicks, but I also don't think that in general the DNC and the RNC are experiments in political radicalism. It's a lot of pageantry, sure, but it mostly serves to uphold the status quo.

I guess it's a bit of a cultural thing. We just don't have any sort of political fanaticism approaching the US and whenever I see footage of your political rallies it kinda shocks me a little.
In general we can't be accused of loving our political leaders, and they certainly don't generate any real passion from us lot.
But we can be pretty fucking lazy too, truth be told. Most of us just can't be bothered.
I wonder if it's partly our compulsory voting at play. The parties don't have to do as much song and dance as we are all going to vote anyway, they just have to convince us to vote for them. Ideally on actual policies rather than pageantry.

This is the White House's response to the Baltimore mayor's urging of the president to stay home and not visit Baltimore on memorial day
"The brave men and women who have preserved our freedoms for generations did not stay home and the president will not either"
That is dumb on so many levels.

Trump logic:
getting drunk at a Holiday Inn pool party = brave
staying home and sacrificing to protect the ongoing needs of the community = cowardly
