Skitch, can we talk about this "baseline"? Say he was just a POW that survived. Where is this idea coming from that he is "more" brave than someone else in the same position? Just curious.

I think McCain is a war hero for having survived being a POW.
I also think it had no relation at all to his political career.
Being heroic includes survival of horrible treatment such as torture etc., and not coming through the other end as a raving homicidal maniac.
Being a politician is kinda the opposite.
