The line up I posted had more to do with left/right and the 3, 4, 5 spots, than any endorsement of a particular player. I'd say Nava could produce at the level he did this year if he's platooning with Gomes. And in that scenario, JBJ would be playing CF. So then the question becomes whether he could lead off, bc that would arrange the line up much more with last year's order and put guys in more comfortable slots.

I'm going to be pissed if McCann, or Beltran, or any of the high end free agents end up on the Red Sox. The only thing I wouldnt be that opposed to to is trading for Trumbo if Napoli walks.

I'd be fine with Beltran as long as we can convince him to play LF

Hoping for zero big free agent signings and that they continue the long-term rebuilding process. Take the draft picks you get when the free agents leave.

I'm hoping McCann goes to the Sox and he gets to DH some. He calls a great game but mainly I want him to be able to hit towards that right field in 81 games. He's a good guy and we will miss him in Atlanta.

Doesn't his productivity dropped off a ton in the second half of the season, historically? Heard he bats like 211 in the second half, although that's from sports radio.

I just think giving a 5 year deal to a guy who, is getting that deal because he is a catcher but likely wont be a catcher within 2 years, is a fools errand.

yeah, no thanks on mcann, beltran, pierzynski, hudson, or any of the dodgers OFs. dealing for pablo sandoval does not appeal to me, but what about dealing for denard span, team?

I wouldn't absolutely hate it if they signed him to 5 years (anything more and I would) but I'd still rather they didn't. As much as I don't thin Ruiz is the guy, I like the idea of a 2-3 year stop gap to get us to our younger guys.

I think Team "RM Red Sox" is all in agreement here.

Other than signing Napoli to a reasonable deal(pref. 2/30 with an vesting option,)filling in the bullpen, and a couple of reserves, I'm happy going into the season with what they have right now.

Yup, and the whole thing about Farrell not winning Manager of the Year...perhaps that adds to the motivation. I dunno. By the way, I really had no issue with Tito winning it.

total pipe dream, but if... let me make that bigger... IF there is any chance for the Sox to get Wieters, they have to do it.

If it's just doubront, I do that all day.

young lefty pitchers are much harder to produce/find than first basemen.

Doubront needs to prove he can show up for a season without turning into a tub of lard during the offseason before I'm willing to put a high value on him.
