I plan on refraining until I have the physical album.. Pretty sure I held off on leaks for every album so far (but I think I heard backspacer on rock band first because I hadn't received the album in the mail yet... That still counts, right?)

Here's a question for my fellow non-leakers... What is everyone doing about reading/paying attention to whatever reviews we get from the listening party? I'm really undecided about this. On one hand, the beauty of the no-leak commitment is that you have no preconceptions prior to first listen. At the same time, it's really hard to resist such tasty treats.

There are 2 possible outcomes that concern me:
a) The reviewer has a generally negative opinion about their listening experience, or makes specific references such as "sounds like Huey Lewis meets Motley Crue... totally lame", and then when I listen to LB for the first time there is no way in hell I can get that image out of my mind and therefore my whole listening experience becomes jaded.
b) The reviewer has an extreme over-reaction to the album. "OMFG, it's like all the best songs Ten thru Yield but only 10,000 times better! The greatest album in the universe!" And, of course, after reading such a reaction (if it's even remotely possible for such a reaction to exist), you find yourself extremely underwhelmed on listening day.

Well sure, I'm listing the two extremes here... but even considering more balanced opinions, I'm just not sure that I want someone else's reaction (after only 1 listen) to interfere with my own experience.

It's a valid worry. It can lock you into a feeling about the songs (or just a way of talking about the songs; around here, as soon as something's labelled 'ATW 2', that never stops being talked about).

i'm alright with reading other people's opinions about songs if they've listened to them... i don't feel it would influence my experience too much... i find it similar to reading blurbs/reviews in rolling stone/spin (or any magazine) prior to the albums release... i remember buying any magazine that had any mention back in the day, so i won't refrain from reading other people's reactions.
