my mom was terrible with the texting it probably looked like she was having a stroke

my 89 year old FIL is in assisted living..he lost his wife last march..I make him text me every morning when he gets up and every night when he's going to bed..if he falls 2 more times this year he will have to be moved to full time care..its tough especially for my wife as the only child..her parents never had to look after their parents..we have a hard time planning vacations because they get shortened when the falls happen..we're crossing our fingers for a 2 month trip next march...this isn't how we pictured early retirement..

My dad keeps saying he is going to retire soon, but probably never will. He could have retired years ago, but he's still at it. Maybe it keeps him young.

Got through my calls from Mom and Dad today. Now I gotta take an Ativan and take a nap.

Sort of, but not for a long time. He mostly works on land now.

Lucky. Mine just texts, “Call me when you get a chance.”

They’ve now found cancer on my mom’s liver. Most likely spread from her lung cancer. Scan this week then meeting with her oncologist after to discuss treatment.

Too soon to say, as I’ll want to know what she’s facing treatment wise first. I’d want to target any visit this year to be able to help with that stuff so it’s not all on my sister. Will definitely be booking a visit next year some time regardless, as we’re wading deeper into how many years does she have left waters now.
