Okay, so this is LEAGUES better then Oppenheimer, but still a pretty minor Nolan movie. He had a tremendous cast that he had just no idea what to do with. Damon and Holland are the weakest links. Hathaway's big speech is one of the highlights of the movie, as is Leguizamo (who I didn't even know was in this). Charlize is fully wasted. Just cut her out.

The movie is too long but I was never bored and I actually got emotional a couple of times, which Nolan hasn't managed to do to me in a while. The movie is flawed and a structural mess but I appreciate the swing and the spectacle.

It's the first movie intended for IMax that I saw at a standard theater that I could tell was meant for IMax. The framing is all wrong if you don't see it as intended and that kinda sucks.

Nolan has movies that work for me and movies that don't, I'd put this at the bottom of the "works" pile. I can't imagine ever having a desire to see it again but I didn't hate the experience of watching it.

Oh! Also Samantha Morton's scene/chapter might be my favorite part of the movie.

My favorite part was the shores of death. That, or the cyclops. Poor fella.

Yeah the Hades scene was baller AF, too.

Actually, my favourite part was when John Leguizamo threw that puppy off a cliff LOL!

the hades scene, the troy war, the witch, everything with the sirens, cyclops and everything at the end....damn so many brilliant scenes.

i saw this last night and thoroughly enjoyed it for the big-budget hollywood entertainment that it is. i just wanted to sit back and absorb it without specific expectations or pedantic critiques. i and i did (holy shit was the hades scene loud though).

that said, that tom holland guy sucked. i hated everything about him.

and i felt really bad for that one-eyed character that was played by shrek. matt damon didn't move the needle with me at all, which means that he generally succeeded here.

also, i couldn't stop looking at charlize theron's triple-pierced ear lobes -- seemed kind of out of context for that desert island detainment facility where she lived.

Yeah Holland was rough. Really took me out of it somewhat in the first 30 minutes.
