My sons are in Colorado until the end of the month. We took them out to a park yesterday afternoon to throw at the portable. My oldest son is a southpaw. His tomahawk is wicked. All natural too. It's nuts.

I can't throw a tomahawk for the life of me.

I can't throw a tomakawk or forehead because of a shoulder problem, backhand gives me no discomfort but the other 2 are awful

I tried a couple to see what goes, but worked mostly on my backhand. If Mas would take this game seriously, he could be a beast on the course.

Weird, I know people who only throw forehand since it's easier on the arm and doesn't require as much "whip" to get distance.

I can throw it with the underside of the disc to my fingers pretty well. Flip it over and the shiny topside is to my fingers and it can go anywhere

Mine is an issue that has developed from throwing a softball, so the forehead and tomahawk throws hurt what is already hurting. But I've been told i need to just strengthen the muscles on the front of my shoulder to get rid of the pain.

I got in big trouble off of the tee last night on one hole. Big trees to the left right and right in front of me with about 160' to the pin. No big hyzer route or forhand or anything. Only options were a cut roller, pitch out around the tree for a stroke or go over top. I don't throw it too often but the thumber is one of my favorite throws and this was the perfect setup for it. Lined up like I was throwing a baseball over top toward the pin and let it rip.... 10' from the pin. :D Love that shot when it works out.

The trick with overhand stuff is definitely to warm up the shoulder before doing it and to follow through.

I think what you're describing here is a thumber. Thumb goes on the lip like below and your other fingers should be balled up in a fist with your pointer finger knukle grippng the disc with your thumb. Throw it like a baseball and it should go up and over and finish to the right.
Image

Opposite grip with the fingers on the rim like below is a Tomahawk. Up and over and finish to the left.

Both can be very useful shots for getting out of trouble.

Great league night last night. Fantastic weather, mosquitos weren't too bad and I had my PB for the year which should get me first place for the night and some $$. Love this game!
