I am a fan of his work, Radiohead-related & not. Is your interview going to be published somewhere soon?

Yeah, should be. It was just a few e-mail questions, but I'm very curious to read his answers.

That dude is prickly as fuck. Seriously depressing answers, which I guess I mostly expected. I wish I could have followed up on some of them, though.

Thanks for sharing, and nice work. Some of his responses were pretty dickish, but I suppose that was to be expected.

I really wish I could have followed up on that art question. I'd be very interested to know why someone who thinks that would make art in the first place, especially political art.

It's interesting though, I wonder how much I agree with him on that specific question.

Jordan
How do you see modern technology's impact on social awareness? In terms of increased social awareness but also decreased awareness?

Stanley
I’m not sure what you mean. By ‘modern technology’ do you mean genetic engineering and the copyrighting of seeds sold to farmers, or oil-based pesticides, or ‘daisy-cutter’ bombs or depleted uranium missile tips or what? Or do you just mean fucking twitter?
This is a pretty fantastic exchange, though.

Haha, it's always a gamble with those kind of "open to interpretation" questions. I want people to interpret through their own eyes a bit. Or they could get hung up on the open-endedness, like he sort of did. Which is still okay.

It was via e-mail, so it was a one-way deal.

So is he being forced to do media to promote this project?

I was a bit surprised by his answer about making art. From what I can tell his art practice is pretty damn prolific. Some of it even smacks of enjoying life & having a sense of humor.

I do know some artists who feel "compelled" to make what they make & see it as a "burden", and they are all fucking jerks interpersonally.

No, art is prettification, decoration, it’s putting parsley around the pig. It very rarely has any real effect. I’m not an idiot.
I don't like this guy and love him, at the same time.

What do you think Mickey's response to Stanley's answer would be? #RIPMickey
