It's true though. I don't t know what the OP is expecting. They couldn't get any drugs on that tour, Cobain was on the verge of "giving up", and they were entirely out of it and played like complete shit. There were ok/decent shows on that tour, but February 1st isn't one of them.
The four Sydney shows are great to varying degrees. The Big Day Out show is one of the all-time legendary Nirvana shows. But yeah, there are a lot of not-so-great shows on that tour.
That Melbourne show is a bit flat to start off with but from once they hit Breed till the end of the set the energy really picks up considerably.

"Radio Friendly Unit Shifter" is my all-time favorite concert opener by any band. I wish I could have seen them on this tour (or any tour, for that matter):

I had never seen that before. I would lose my mind (in a good way) if a mainstream act could ever pull off that kind of chaos in my lifetime.

Hmm, really strange. Not sure who this "Rory Wales" character is but I know exactly who took these photos. They were taken by a guy I know named Eamonn. A couple of years ago I had the prints of those photos in my hands and scanned them for Mike Ziegler. After they went around the web, someone in Cork contacted Eamonn about using them in an exhibition about the venue, Sir Henrys and Eamonn did a little interview about his recollections of the gig. Maybe Rory Wales is his alter-ego!

Ok. Asked Eamonn and he confirmed that Rory Wales is a friend of his and they went to the gig together. Rory took the photos on Eamon's camera. Sorted!

Im listening to Nirvana's discography for the first time after doing AIC.

Im on song 5 of Bleach and wow this is good O__O

I don't know any songs beside About a Girl, but I only knew the Unplugged version and the album version was much better...

This album is...really good, and I'm not a big Nirvana fan so Im shocked how much Im enjoying every song.

Jeez this is intense, maybe I like it because its the one that most reminds me of the harder PJ songs, which is weird because those aren't my favorite PJ songs

Damn straight. It won't surprise you to learn that Nirvana were one of the all-time great live bands, as evidenced by this video from the Bleach era:

Or this one from later, after they fired Jason:

You should listen to Incesticide before Nevermind, since most of the material pre-dates Nevermind (and some of it pre-dates Bleach).

Im so impressed with this album its like a punch its so hard-hitting, and Kurt Cobain sounds so good on it. I LOVED About a Girl too having never heard the actual album version before, since it was the Unplugged one that was in guitar hero, and I think on the radio too.

This is much better than the first AIC album in my opinion and I like the AIC hits SO MUCH BETTER than the Nirvana hits so its weird. I mean I LIKE the big 3 (come as you are, smells like teen spirit, lithium) but I don't love any of them, and most of the other random songs Ive heard Ive been lukewarm on. Im not sure any song on this album besides About a Girl I would listen to outside of the context of this album, but as an album this is great.

Incesticide is their B-sides right? I dunno, that sounds like a good idea, but is it good? Because Im worried it might kind of dilute things taking in so much new stuff at once. Like chronologically or not, I wouldn't feel like I would have had a better experience listening to Lost Dogs in the middle of PJ's albums.

One of the things I was happy about is they only have 3 albums so its not too much to digest

Im almost done and it was a bit front-loaded...the first couple tracks were better than the back half in general, but this all SOUNDS good, Im just getting to the point of not being able to distinguish the tracks from each other. But again its only my first listen.

I wonder if like all albums in the world would be better if they were shorter.

Almost every album I listen to has a lot of filler that takes a long time to digest.

I mean look at Boston's debut album. Only 8 tracks, and as a result almost every single one is awesome. It says something when you can hear literally almost EVERY SINGLE TRACK on the radio. In fact I think Smokin and Hitch a Ride were the only ones I didn't know and Im pretty sure Ive heard at least one of them since then. Quality over quantity and all.

Even Appetite for Destruction peters off into filler near the end that weakens the album.

Ten is pretty solid straight through though. Not a huge fan of Garden and Deep but two 'filler' tracks is pretty good. (Yes I know some of you love those songs and won't consider them filler at all, Im just saying from my perspective)

Yes, I am firmly in favor of short albums. Anything over 30 minutes is usually pushing it.

Finished Bleach. I could have done with cutting off a lot of songs. It kind of petered out to me. After a while you've heard all there is to hear of this style. And what was fresh in the first half I grow numb to in the second half. Like even School I was like O__O wow this is great, and Negative Creep. But I didn't have that reaction anymore after that point and I was ready to end it.

Again, Ive had this reaction with almost all albums I listen to including every one of AIC's albums, and Ive had it with Metallica's albums so this might reflect on me.

I guess I'm used to the radio where you hear more variety and tracks standout by what's unique about the band, but when you listen to 13 songs from the same band in a row, whats unique about the band no longer is unique or can differentiate songs from each other, unless the band is very good/diverse.

As for Bleach, About a Girl was the standout by far..interestingly because it was so different from the rest of the album. Maybe because I already knew another version of it.

I'M ON NIRVANA RIGHT NOW. So i guess Ill have to wait and see whether this is a joke or serious.

Still listening to About a Girl, and man I LOVE LOVE LOVE the chord choices and guitar sound on the "I'll take advantage while" section and the way it transitions back into the initial plodding chords! That is so cool and satisfying. And then the drums picking up with the tamborine thing into the guitar solo? Its like demented Beatles. Its great. Grunge pop? What?

Edit: I can't believe this song was so good the unplugged did NOT do it justice at all

Kurt had a great feel for melody and could come up with some real catchy stuff. Sliver could probably be another "grunge pop" number.
