That’s fantastic. And that is where my sanctimony wears thin. For all the caring I blabber on about, you would think I could at least volunteer for trail maintenance.

Over-inflated my back tire the other day and BANG! within a couple minutes. That thing popped so fucking loud, OMG. Sounded like a shotgun.

Luckily I was only a few blocks from home. That would have sucked so bad miles from home in the rain...

I've been rocking puncture proof for a while now. Also make sure you're stopping short of the recommended max. psi. There's a range, and you don't need to go for max unless you're in a time trial or some shit.

I'm going to buy a new bike tomorrow. I'm looking for a good entry level mountain bike. I'm leaning towards a Giant Talon 2 at the moment.

Based on the same frame geometry is used for both 29” and 27.5”, I’d opt to size on the small size if your height straddles two sizes on the 27.5”. I’d stay away from 29” wheels unless you’ve mountain biked previously. They are a different beast than 27.5” rides. Faster but takes a lot more physicality to get it to be near as mobile as a 27.5”.

Thank you. I will mostly be riding on roads, but I like the versatility of having a mountain bike. I'm not especially experienced at actual mountain biking.

If most of the mountain biking is going to be done as country country and gravel roads/paths, the 29” will make the road riding a lot more enjoyable and faster. Especially given the small size of the front sprockets (22/36) versus a standard (28/38/48).

Working on my fourth week in a row topping 100 km. Working from home makes it so much tougher to do.

Had a real solid 40km ride yesterday. First one in a long time where my legs felt like they could really be pushed. Only hopped out of my top gear for a couple minute stretch going into a strong head wind up an incline. I’m the weird rider who just loves to grind out hills wherever possible in top gear.

Even before I started riding a fixed gear my bike never dropped below top gear.

While riding this morning I thought if I could ride a fixed gear bike. I think I could fully ride a 44/11 fixed gear. I would have to stand up for the steeper hills but I'd make it. A strong headwind is more my worry, I'd make it but it would wipe me out.

Nice ride today. Near the end I had to walk about a half block uphill before it leveled out.

I have two Schrader/Presta valve adapters. One lives in my wallet, and another never leaves the end of my Specialized pump.
